My Studio and Message Center

What happens in My Studio?

This is your very own private space and the hub of all your activity at DivineCaroline. Once you're a Member and logged in, click the My Studio link above the Search box. In My Studio, you'll be able to submit Articles and Reviews, create your Public Profile, tell your friends that you're published, get in touch with other Members through Message Center, keep track of favorite Writers and Articles, and lots more.

What if I want to connect with another Member?

If you have anything to say about a Member's Article, we strongly encourage you to do that right under the Article in the Comments area. That's how we'll build a more vibrant, valuable community. But when you want to make a personal connection with another Member - for example, to invite them to a play date, or tell them when your book club meets - you can use the DivineCaroline Message Center found in My Studio. You can also get to your Message Center by clicking "Get in touch with this Member" at the top of the Member's Profile Page.

At first you won't have any saved contacts in your Message Center, so we've created a handy search tool to help you find any DivineCaroline Member. Once you see the Member's name in the search results, click on it and the person's name will appear in the "To:" field. You can send your note off to 10 recipients at a time and everyone you reach out to will be saved in your contacts list. Just write a subject line, your note and send it off.

We'll notify you by email when someone has sent you a message, but you can opt out of that service if you'd prefer. We hope you like this feature and that you give us your feedback through Contact Us.

I want some details to be private. Is that possible?

Yes. We'll keep your real name, your gender and your year of birth totally private. And when you register, you'll have the option of choosing a Pen Name. Your Display or Pen Name will appear alongside everything you publish here - Articles, Reviews, Comments and Forum posts.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Don't worry. If you've forgotten your password, click on the link in the Login box that reads "Forgot your password?" You'll be asked for your email address. A temporary password will be sent to your email address immediately. Just log in using that temporary password, and then update your password in the My Account section of My Studio.

How do I change my password?

Just go to My Account in My Studio and look for the area titled "Password". You'll enter your current password, then your new password. After you confirm your new password, click "Save changes" at the bottom of the page.

How do I change my account's email address?

Visit My Account in My Studio. Look for the area titled "Private Information" where you'll find a field for your email address. Enter your new email address then click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.

I'm having trouble uploading a photo on my Public Profile. What should I do?

Make sure the image you are attempting to upload is either in .gif or .jpg format. The filename should be short, with no spaces or unnecessary characters. Your file must be less than 1MB. Keep in mind that your image will be cropped to 88 pixels wide by 64 pixels high, so we recommend you use an image with a landscape format. If you're still having trouble, it's possible that your file is corrupted and that you'll have to repair it or try another image.

Can I upload a video?

We can't accommodate video submissions at this time. But it's on our list.

What are Favorites?

Use the Favorites feature to list the Contributors, Articles and Reviews and Forums you appreciate the most. You can add to your Favorites by selecting "Save" (the green plus sign) that appears with Articles, Reviews, Forums and below the names of Contributors. A list of your Favorites will appear on your Public Profile page.

Can I label my own Articles and Reviews as Favorites?

Sure. You can be one of your "Favorites". Just remember that other Members will see your Favorites when they look at your Public Profile.

What's the difference between a Display Name and a Pen Name?

Basically, every Member has one full name – first and last – that will identify them publicly on DivineCaroline. You can use your real first and last names if you like, but we know that some of our Members prefer to submit Articles and Reviews, or participate in Forums without using their real name. So, you have the option of going by a different name – a Pen Name. You'll register with your real first and last names but the only way you'll ever be identified on the site is by your Display Name or Pen Name.

Whichever way you go, this name will appear at the top of your Public Profile next to your home state. That's the only information that is made public at DivineCaroline.

With Pen Names we do ask that you respect the integrity of the site and the community. If you absolutely have to be "Dizzy Lizzy", we won't stop you, but your readers may respect you and your contributions more if you choose something a bit more appropriate. Thanks for understanding!

Will a Pen Name ever reveal my real identity?

Absolutely not. Your private registration information will never be made public.

Can I change my Display Name or Pen Name?

You can change your Display name or Pen Name by clicking on Contact Us and sending us an email.

Can I change my "Private" name?

If you get married or divorced or change your "real" name for whatever reason, you'll need to send us an email through Contact Us. Remember this name is private and, unlike your Display Name or Pen Name, it will never be made public.

How can I tell my friends about my work?

With My Publicist, you can highlight your Articles and Reviews in a professional-looking email for friends, colleagues, manicurists and ex-husbands. The recipient will see a personalized note from you, plus previews of your published pieces and links to the real thing at DivineCaroline. You'll find My Publicist in My Studio.

How often can I use My Publicist?

There's no limit to the number of My Publicist newsletters you can send, but you may not want to overwhelm your friends and family with emails. If you're a frequent Contributor, we recommend that you send a My Publicist email periodically with your best stuff.

How much can I share?

The My Publicist section of My Studio will show your 5 latest Articles and Reviews. You can select from these 10 pieces to make your My Publicist email a good read for your friends.

How do I use My Publicist?

After you've logged in, go to the My Publicist section of My Studio. You'll see a list of your recent Articles and Reviews. Choose the ones you want to include in your email and then click "Select". You'll notice that your selected Articles and Reviews will appear in the area titled "Selected Articles & Reviews". Once you've made your selections, enter the recipients' email addresses, write a personalized note if you'd like and hit the "Send" button.

What does My Publicist cost?

Like all the features and tools on DivineCaroline, My Publicist is free.

Can I put a link to my blog in my Public Profile?

Absolutely and the way to do that is to go to the My Profile section of My Studio. (My Profile is where you create and update the info that appears in your Profile.) At the bottom of your My Profile page, you'll see "A bit more about me". That's an excellent place to share information about your blog.
