I am from Vietnam; I am living in the capital city of Hanoi. Have you ever been heard about this city of peace, 1,000 year old city, or anything else?
I am now working as a freelance writer so that most of time; I am experiencing on daily life, with streets, farms, seas, fields to mountains. Every step is a special different feeling that becomes my work’s inspiration.
Up to now, my road is just at the start and in the future, I have to travel more, discover more and write more to devote. I feel that’s exactly a happy life.
Any way I have to choose a favorite—a strong passion for myself. After many long experiences, I found myself having a special passion on foods and cuisines. Each region I designated brought me a specialty that cannot be found anywhere else.
Northern, Central, Southern; three particular regions of Vietnam demonstrate their own cuisine that it is too difficult to make a decision of the best taste.
Go and back, that is the certain thing. After all journey and discoveries, I come back Hanoi where is now my second hometown. (I was born in a countryside about 350km far from Hanoi). Working here after graduating university, I still have to discover more and more life and people here.
My most impressive image of living style in Hanoi is cafe culture. Do Hanoians really drink that much coffee? How can there be so many cafes in a single city? Drinking coffee hobby of Hanoian is more than I can see, can write and can feel.
By chance, when I leisurely travelled to old quarter, I found Egg Coffee in a small, simple cafe name Cafe Giang (add: 39 Nguyen Huu Huan street, Ha noi).
Let me tell you how great egg white and yolk make your coffee cup fluffy like a cloud, some said they look like bubbles in a bubble bath. So funny!
How about its flavor? Only said, rich and creamy! And bet that all those tasted this egg coffee agree that it is like a mouthful of tiramisu. And the best egg coffee is served hot to enjoy the bitterness of coffee balanced by the rich egg yolk.
Enjoying egg coffee, in particular, and drinking coffee in general, seem to become a daily ritual of any Hanoian. Living in Hanoi for years, I am now thinking myself as a real Hanoian and love more people, live there.
I think that you may love to make an egg coffee by yourself. Here is my recipe Vietnamese egg coffee.
