If you are in management career field or hell, even looking for any type of goal-oriented improvement in any situation; so be it family, school, any industry work field, life, etc. I had to read it for Supply Operations Management course but my opinion of this book is that's a good example for accomplishing any goals, approaching strategies, and problem solving in any sceneraio. Just have to take the time to think about the theories and apply it open-minded to the situation/problem.
Eliyahu Goldratt's "The Goal" introduces and explains Goldratt's Theory of Constraints; it is a novel about Al Rogo, a plant manager who is on a mission to save his plant branch of the whole organization from closure. I found it interesting that Goldratt tactfully interlinks his theory into an interesting story where the reader wants to continue reading to see how the story unfolds about Alex Rogo. It presents a renewed, influential, usable model for problem-solving in business and in personal life decisions in a novel format than the usual textbook lesson. He has close to three months of making a miracle happen to keep the plant open. It introduces the theory of constraints as it applies to manufacturing. Rogo's plant is at risk and finds themselves threatened by low productivity, low morale, lack of communication, and low standards of quality. The book follows Rogo as he identifies and solves problem after problem, on the road to saving his manufacturing plant, his own job and those of his colleagues, and his marriage. Each problem is broken down into its humblest components so that the real priorities are easily identified and dealt with from about the joys of inventory management, bottlenecks, and throughputs.
I do find it to relate as a real problem in today’s world; I believe The Goal theories can be used in any work, personal, or regular daily activity decisions. The main point of the book is how to meet “The Goal" and the book really does a great job of using similarities and examples of things to reach expectations. It provides ways to learn about manufacturing process optimization as well as how to make a manufacturing company more profitable even saving a marriage. It introduces and explains how to do this in a real-world way that is easily understandable and enjoyable unlike textbooks or lectures that may teach the same information. Overall, I was able to learn a lot of useful knowledge from this book and I think that many organizations and schools could benefit greatly by having employees and students read this book teaching to make the impossible into possible in any situation.

A good book keeps you reading until the end. A great book pulls you completely into the story, so much so that you can’t talk or think about anything else. Which book would you put in the latter category? Which changed your perspective the most? Write about it.
