How Are You Helping Japan?

After any devastating disaster—natural or man-made—those of us who are safe are left wondering how we can help those who are less fortunate. How are you contributing to the relief efforts? If you know of an organization doing good work, an easy way to donate money, or a family that’s in need, please share it here, so others can make a difference, too. Whether you’re giving to the Red Cross or just saying a prayer, every little bit counts.

There are two countries I will not help. Germany and Japan. I am cursed with memory. I remember Dec 7, 1941 as though it were yesterday. I cannot forgive what was done. And with Germany I remember the Holocaust. I cannot forgive.

Sending love and light and making sure I don't get sucked into any of the negativity of fear, pity, sorrow or dismay is, I feel, the very best I can do to raise the frequencies of the area. Honour, love, gratitude and respect to the Japanese people.

I've offered up my prayers for the people of Japan and Japan. Prayer is maraculous. It is the one thing we can all come together and do on behalf of each other or individually! My prayer is that all nations will come together in prayer and provide for the people of Japan in anyway possible. We reap what we sow! Sowing whatever seeds we can will be of benefit in some way!

There's a Youtube video that's beginning to go around of an artist who is doing something so incredibly inspiring. I've become a HUGE fan and felt compelled to help circulate her efforts to help build awareness of the Japan victims and possibly help raise funds. I hope you find it as admirable as I do to pass it on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKcib5Q2Cn8

This tragedy has really impacted me for some reason--probably for a lot of reasons, but I find myself wanting to help these people as much as I can. I can't imagine what I'd do if something like this happened to me.
I've actually looked into volunteer opportunities--traveling over to Japan to help with the relief efforts--but most organizations haven't started sending people out yet. They're really only sending extremely qualified doctors etc, to asses the damage and see how they can start tackling this massive devastation.
I signed up here to be notified when this organization starts looking for volunteers to go abroad: http://hands.org/2011/03/14/were-not-taking-volunteers-just-yet

Plenty of charities have good intentions after a major disaster, but it's important to give money to organizations with infrastructure already in place and a track record that demonstrates effectiveness. The Red Cross and World Vision are two great places to start.
