This morning, I start my new job as a Customer Care Representative for Walgreen’s Take Care Clinic. This position is only for ninety days, but if I am on time and provide excellent customer service, I could be offered a position. Therefore, it is extremely important for me to be on time and get a good nights’ sleep. When I woke up, I realized that is was not to the alarm. Apparently the power went off last night because the alarm never went off. This was the start of a day when everything went wrong.
Even though I woke up late, I am not concerned I will be late for work. I always give myself plenty of time to have a relaxing cup of coffee in the morning. Once I poured a nice hot cup of coffee, I realized that I forgot to make my lunch last night. As I rush to make the lunch, I remember the clothes are still in the dryer and still need to be ironed. While ironing my work clothes I cannot help but to let my mind wander.
I’m competing in Big Brother and win HOH. Hayden, a muscular, brown haired, twenty something year old comes up and gives me a big hug and kisses me. My face turns red from embarrassment and then I kiss back. As I pulled away, I couldn’t help reaching for those strong, muscular, tan arms. It did not matter that all the houseguests were watching me. Then I started to smell something. I opened my eyes, looked down and realized I burnt a hole right through my silk skirt. After screaming a few choice cuss words, I ran back to the dryer to pick out something else to wear for the day.
What is going on? It seems like everything is going wrong this morning. I took a deep breath and made a conscious decision to not freak out. That is when I realized I forgot all about my poodle, Mimi. She has been lying on the couch the whole time with her head on her paws. She is staring at me with her puppy dog eyes that say, “Are you forgetting something?” I grabbed her leash and took her outside for a walk.
I live in a quiet neighborhood and everyone is always very polite. A few cars drove by as I walked Mimi down the block and back. I said hello to Mrs. Hawkins and Mr. Blessing, who were also taking their dogs on a morning walk. When we got back to the house, I filled up Mimi’s food and water bowl. I looked up and caught the mirror on the backside of the pantry door. Oh no! As I studied myself in the mirror, I realized I could never face my neighbors again.
My hair was uncombed and I looked like the bride of Frankenstein. I also forgot to take yesterday’s make-up off last night. The black mascara and black eye-liner made my eyes look like I was punched in the eyes. Not to mention the clothes I was wearing (or not wearing for that matter). I was horrified at what I was looking at.
I had no choice but to get ready quickly and not think about what just occurred.
In fifteen minutes, I was able to take a shower and get dressed. I put my hair in a pony tail and grabbed my keys and lunch in the refrigerator. I walked out of the house and closed the door behind me and at that moment, I jumped and opened my eyes. I found myself lying in bed hugging the bed pillow. The comforter was wrapped around my body like I was being squeezed out of it. It was six a.m., Monday morning. It was all a dream.
