Women at the top of their field—whether they’re A-list actresses or CEOs of multinational corporations—usually got there by working incredibly hard and benefiting from a little luck along the way. And once they’ve arrived, they’ve usually earned a few valuable lessons about life, careers, business, and the pursuit of happiness (as well as piles and piles of cash). If you’re looking for guidance in these areas—and who isn’t?—these bits of celebrity wisdom are priceless.

Oprah? Ha! It’s easy for a multi-multi-millionaire to say something like that. I wonder if she actually MEANS that in the case of, say, a dishwasher, or a janitor. Gloria (Ironbox) Steinem, Rosanne Barr, and Lady Gaga all hit the nail on the head. Paris Hilton? C’mon, DC! You could have done without her. Of COURSE she has only one rule. She inherited her hundreds of millions. She’d have said something MUCH more intelligent had she actually earned that money. The key word in Madonna’s statement is “SOMEtimes” – i.e. Not ALL the time, not MOST of the time, and not just ANY time. Tongue in cheek for the rest of them. From me: Money does not buy happiness. But the utter absence of money will certainly buy lots of misery. Think any of these women ever experienced that? I doubt it. Silver spoons have a way of staying in the mouth once they are there. For the NORMAL career woman (or even man), sift carefully any so called "words of wisdom" touted by a celebrity. They haven't lived YOUR life.
