There’s a huge trend in bike riding, and it’s about not only being trim and going green—it’s about being cute. Celebrities and stylish ladies on the street have been spotted looking gorgeous riding their bikes, and there’s no reason you can’t look equally cute too—gone are the days of riding in head-to-toe spandex. Check out our five favorite bike-friendly finds:
1. The Long T-Shirt
We do recommend a little something extra underneath (such as Spanx shapewear shorts), but there’s nothing more comfy than a long, billowy tee for a leisurely ride. If t-shirt dresses sound too casual for you, summer dresses work just as well.
2. The Bloomer Short
Bloomer shorts allow your legs to move with ease, and your thighs won’t be stretching the seams when you sit or pedal (think tight denim shorts). A pair of your best fitting jeans could do the trick too, but for warmer seasons, shorts are the way to go.
3. The Visor
To keep the sun from scorching your face, add a visor that adjusts for a snug fit—it won’t blow away when you pick up speed.
4. The Gladiator Sandal
Safety first: gladiator sandals won’t fall off your feet while pedaling, the way a flip-flop might. Of course, if you’re pedaling farther than to and from the store, sneakers might be a better bet.
5. Aviator Sunglasses
Keep the sun and the dirt out of your eyes with a pair of aviators. You can find an inexpensive pair at the mall or at a sample sale, so if you do fall, you won’t worry about scratches (at least not on your shades).
