Why You Shouldn't Trust Your Hotel Room Safe

If you're a frequent traveler, you've probably seen electronic safes in your hotel room usually located in the TV cabinet or closet floor. If you've had too much to drink they can be easily mistaken for a microwave oven, don't ask me how I know. I've always trusted them until I watched the video below.

Apparently there is a default password pre-programmed by the safe manufacturer that allows hotels to open them as needed. In this case, the default password is a series of zeros.

Hotels can reset the default password, but apparently many do not. In addition to the problem with hotel drinking glasses, it's just another thing to be mindful of when staying overnight in a hotel.
