My late aunt, Ella. She was an absolute inspiration because she lived her life to the fullest and in the process changed so many lives, in a very positive way. She did her best to follow her dreams. If she could dream it, she usually made it happen. She was the most positive person ever and she had the most infectious laugh. She died young (at age 44), but lived a very rich life. Words are not enough to tell you about my aunt. Here's a link to a newspaper article if you'd like to read about the journey of one incredible woman. http://www.newera.com.na/article.php?articleid=38211

My MOTHER. She only got to go to the 8th grade in school because she had to help out with chores at home. She married at 24 and had 9 children altogether and unfortunately lost 3 along the way. One died from pnuemonia as an infant, one was born early and they did not have the technology that they do now to save the baby. Her oldest son died in a freak hunting accident at 13. She was exposed to the mumps when she was caring my older sister and my sister was born blind. One of my brothers was hit by a drunk driver on his way to work on his motorcycle when he was 16 and had to have his leg amputated. With all these tradgedies my mother stayed strong for all of the other children and she stayed sane.(which would be a feat in itself under the circumstances) She never once neglected any of her other children amid all of this heartbreak. I am not sure how she did it....but I applaud her everyday. She has been a tower of strength. She is now 90, still alive and still as caring as ever.

When I think about who has most inspired me, I must say that it is my daughter. My daughter was really sick for 11 years. Instead of being miserable, she approached life with such zeal. She died 2 years ago but I decided that I wasn't going to continue living my life not being happy and fulfulled. So I returned to college so that I can achieve my dream of helping other people. I am working hard and making the most of this 2nd chance.

My Dad. When he was hospitalized for the umpteenth time for congestive heart failure the cardiologist told him this would continue to happen. He only had 14% of his heart left. The doctor told him he could suspend all his medication and let nature take it's course and that what my incredibly brave Father chose to do. He lived for 10 days on the hospice floor and then they sent him home. We all went to his house and had dinner and pizza. He suffered a heart attack that night and died in his home with my brother and mother at his side.
My grandmother. She was married at a young age and only finished 8th grade. After having seven children, she decided to go back to school. She worked and finished her graduate degree in Special Education. She retired a few years ago from working 20 plus years. Whenever I would say I could not do something, she would remind me that you can do anything you set your mind to accomplish.

I'm inspired daily by random acts of kindness. I've always tried to put a face to my inspiration but I always return to "just people ." I think my inability to give credit to just one person is because it would be so limiting. I'm inspired by good coaches (avid kansas jayhawk and college basketball fan here), my own father's zest for life and his grace when he passed away; the underdog who comes from behind and keeps going no matter how many attempts they've mastered. As a military family advocate I meet national guard families daily who inspire and humble me when I hear their stories of not just surviving deployment, 10 years of war, but also thriving in the face of adversity. It's a gift from God to delight in the simple acts of kindness I witness each day...IN this day of polarization it's hard to be able to say that.

I had such an emotionally abusive childhood....my aunt rita was often the one who rescued me a lot of the time...when my mom sought solace at my grand mothers house aunt rita was the one who would take and spend time with me and taught me to expect greatness and love out of life. She shared her wisdom ...even though i was embarrassed as a kid when shed pull her ragtag change purse out and remind us to always keep change with you....and that lesson came in handy just the the other day when i had a flat and no cash on be ..just an ashtray full of pennies...all of which i took and got cash for and fixed the flat. Rita also encouraged me to draw and fostered the love i have of art and history today...i love her even more ever time i think about all she gave to my life

well,I have a lot of people that inspire me. I would have to say my niece and nephew inspire me the most. Because I wasnt involved in their life for a while do to selfishness and love was blind. Being 2 years back home and getting involved with them more and more each day...they inspire me to fulfill my dreams because I believe that they look up to me as a role model. I have become a stronger person with the challenges in my life and wanting to take a more positve and fulfilling path and find my reason to serve.

I think many people have inspired me, such as my 5th grade teacher who taught English with a passion and a family friend who was an English teacher and taught me how to play Scrabble and encouraged me to write, her husband who gave me a copy of The Power of Positive Thinking and taught me many things. I also gleaned knowledge and inspiration from many books. I believe sharing my life story with friends and writing about it, combined with my previously mentioned inspirations have been the magic combination to get me past many things which most people would consider negative or defeating.
In eighth grade, our school had a chorus teacher who was a father, coach, teacher, and a wonderful music director. He would give us life lessons, along with having us learn our singing parts to some new piece of music. Any kid could go to him with problems and Mr. Bryan would listen, help, and encourage. He was very popular. But he was a hard task-master too, demanding the best from each of us in our singing. Our school chorale always won the school district competitions because of his inspiration and his high demands. We secretly called him "Father Bryan" and we loved him. I never got to go back and thank him for what he did for me to raise my self-confidence and improve my singing ability. He died suddenly of a heart attack before I could return. I will never forget his lectures about tolerance, doing your best, avoiding consumerism, being real, working hard at goals, and not going along with the crowd to be "cool." He inspired so many teens to excel and to be themselves.

My high school gym teacher and track and field coach. Most amazing, influential, inspiring man I have met in my life.

This man was very large, and very greek. Whenever we were slacking off, he threatened to kick our poponaki. In his eyes, there were no excuses and no quitters. Everyone could be a champion if they chose to be.
The best part about Coach was his stories. For every situation he had a story that he would tell in his thick greek accent. We never knew if they were actually true or not, but he would get so excited that we believed them anyway.

Coach was an inspiration to every kid in school. He wasn't just a coach to us, but a teacher and a father. And at his going away party the night before he moved, I remember him saying "I judge a man's life by the number of people has has touched, and tonight, I am a very rich man." And he may never know just how true that statement was.

I had an English teacher in high school, her name was Mrs. Kincaid. She told me that I was a great writer, and I could use these skills later in life in my career. She was also a lesbian in a small, conservative Southern town. Many students loved her, but lots of the parents were afraid of her because she was different and very independent. she stood up for what she believed in and always treated everyone fairly. she inspired me then and now.

Two or so years ago, I was blessed to meet someone who would change my outlook and approach on life forever. My former psychology teacher, Mrs. Bender, has been my rock and my "go-to" person since the beginning of last year, my senior year of highschool. This year was particularly tough. Going through major changes, family issues, and overall teen angst left me begging and seeking for someone to listen. She is the perfect candidate..and still is. Not only genuine, Mrs. Bender is kind, caring, sincere and the person who I wish to be, but never will be. I will never be half the person she is. When she's not teaching and taking care of us kids who need her, she's being super mom of 3 kids. I've never seen anyone so loving and forgiving as she is.

This may sound too good to be true, but I promise you whole-heartedly it is not. I really feel spoiled to have such an remarkable "forever friend" in my life. She's a big reason why I'm still okay. And I know I always will be with her around.

My children inspire me...sound corny or boring? Probably to those who are inspired by a famous person, a doctor, a lawyer, a college professor.... My life's inspiration come from two little people that happened to be handed to me right out of the loving hands of God, Himself. Before my first child was born I was married & really never struggled for a thing. I had "friends" & "family" that "loved me". I made the decision to leave a marriage I was not happy in. Afterwards I met someone I loved & we became pregnant, then were both laid off from our jobs. Over the last 4 years we've struggled through homelessness, hunger, more job layoffs, evictions, repossessions, the birth of our son, and dealing with "friends & family" that turned out to be shockingly different. But everyday their faces, their smiles, their TRUE UNCONDITIONAL love, their innocence was enough to keep me motivated & inspired to keep pushing through. We are stable now & I thank God for making me stronger thru my kids.

Barry Manilow. No, Really. I know it's a huge risk saying it out loud. It's not "cool" to be a Manilow fan and never was. Though how he could be the "top selling contemporary artist of all time" and yet nobody likes him is beyond me, but I digress. The point is, he inspired me growing up. Every time a new album came out I would listen to the point of memorizing every song. The characters would take shape in my imagination and I would find myself inspired to write stories about them, which led to my development as a writer. Even more than that, I would strive to live my life having learned from their mistakes. Manilow's music was a wonderfully life shaping force for me when I was young and impressionable. To this day I'm very grateful.

I have been so lucky to be surrounded by inspiring people in my life over the years. Of course my parents & grandparents have always been my number one supporters & the ones who have constantly inspired me over the years to be whatever it is in life I want to be. I was always consistently told that if I can think it I can achieve it & that I was only limited by my own mind & imagination. I think having this mindset constantly being instilled in me did indeed have the biggest impact on me in terms of being inspired by someone. Of course their were teachers in all of my academic years of school who inspired me in one way or another, but making small differences that each one led to the next journey of my life, but my parents & grandparents truly made the most profound impact on keeping me inspired & striving to achieve more in and out of life. Thanks so much for letting me share!

A few people, My Dad, who never met a person he didn't help or make feel special in someway. My grandmother and great aunt, whom never ceased to amaze me at the level of work they did to persevere, in the most astounding situations, like raising seven children, putting them all through private schools by working three jobs at a time, and still ironing the household sheets, grandfathers shirts, whitening and brightening my shirts by boiling them in bleach on the stove, etc. I feel SO lazy in our current society in comparison. Not surprising, my mother inspired me in many ways but most outstandingly, by impressing on me the value of an education. A woman ahead of her time, she obtained her education in the hard-scrabble years of the Depression. She worked at menial jobs, going to school at night and on weekends. Her determination, hard work and dedication paid off. As a teacher, she inspired many of her students to forge ahead, but she not only encouraged me, she enabled me to try to excel and to appreciate the value of determination, hard work and dedication. It was not as hard for me as it was for her, but I knew she expected it of me and I wasn't about to let her down! She embodied the attributes that lead to success. She was not only my example and inspiration, she was my guiding angel.

My Aunt Doll has always been a role model for me. Since I was very young, she took me to Broadway shows and the NYC ballet. We went to museums and craft fairs. She's taken me to some of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. She certainly introduced me to the arts and broadened my horizons in so many ways. As a matter of fact, we just got back from a local production of 39 Steps. What fun!

My friend Gigi, who was diagnosed at 35 with breast cancer a few months after giving birth to her first child. Despite these dire circumstances and a terrible prognosis, she never gave in to doubt or fear, and lived every single day with joy and hope. We had a ritual of meeting at the mall for some "shopping therapy" after her treatments, and I was always amazed at her strength and sense of humor. I've never known anyone else like her. She faced each setback with the attitude, okay, how are we going to tackle this? My sweet friend died four years after her diagnosis, and I think of her and miss her every single day.
My father. At 5 ft 4', his demure built can be misleading but only to those who have not had his shoulder to lean on. His little hands are always open to give and its clasp provides the security that only a mother can provide to her baby. For his small frame he has big legs; the ones that take everything in stride and take him that extra mile to bring a smile on even a stranger's face. His petite frame houses this large heart that is full of love, warmth and forgiveness. His brilliance is not just in his achievements for himself but in his inspiration, guidance and advice to others to make them reach the stars. He may wave me a smiling goodbye standing on the porch, but his moist eyes, that fail to hide behind his spectacles assure me that i will always be his little baby no matter how old i am. I love you dad for being you.

I can see through her eyes to relax and smile when I become to wrapped up in my adult life. I hope she can always inspire me and that I do the same for her! My mother has been the greatest inspiration to me. I find that we do not agree about many different things and our tastes are quite different, however my mom has pointed me in the right direction. She wasn't able to teach me everything, but she taught me some very basic principles for success. She gave me a sense of honor and dignity. She taught me to listen to my conscience. She taught me to be humble enough to realize I don't know everything, but that I could find wise counsel in those with greater thoughts and visions than I have. These principles she has taught me keep me on a path of pursuing growth, learning, and becoming a better person. I'm not afraid to try new things and learn from my mistakes. In comparison to the ways she has led me to a good path in life the things we don't agree on become small.

My mother who recently past away this year was a true inspiration to me and many more. She was never that I can remember a well person and yet she always had an ear to listen a shoulder to lean on and an encouragment to offer to whatever situation you presented her with or advice you sought from her. She gave of her self and offered advice thru her own experiences and often tried to understand both sides of a problem to help with a solution. Now that she is gone I realize how much I counted on her for the littlest of things and just how a simple phone call by her, every day, to say hello meant so much. My Mother inspired me and still does to be better than I was the day before.

My mom has always inspired me. She has always worked and would always take any overtime when it was available just so we could have extra money. I never felt like i missed out with her working so much because we always had girls night every saturday night and would watch tv and eat snacks all night. She has always been strong through everything (my dads sucessful battle with esophageal cancer, her own numerous cancer scares, batteling sarcoidosis). Not only does she manager her own house, but she also takes care of the rest of her family even though she shouldn't have to. They are all grown adults but they rely on her for help with EVERYTHING. No matter how stressed out, broke and tired she is, she always helps them, and rarely gets anything in return. From her I learned that things could always be worse, you have to just put one foot in front of the other and just keep moving. You can't feel sorry for youself or you will never get anything done.

This website has literally inspired me!! I've been feeling so down and sad to say but pretty incompetent. I've been unemployed for 6 months now. My savings account is down to $32 and I don't know what my future is going to look like. I'm 27 y.o. and I'm afraid of not being the successful career woman I would like to be. However, reading articles on this website has really inspired me to keep trying and not give up on my dreams. I'm absolutely grateful of discovering such informative entertaining and motivational source that I can have access to on a daily basis. Thanks to everyone! =)

My bestfriend that passed away several years ago inspired me through life. She was just weeks away from dying of ovarian cancer and we had planned to get all dolled up and go do the sights of Carmel, California and when I arrived (looking pretty fancy in the best of my outfits) there she was in some old grey sweats, no makeup and bless her heart 4 strands of hair sticking up on her head, since she had lost almost all of it to chemo. She had some funny looking necklace around her neck made of large old fashion Christmas light bulbs, divided with jingle bells. She said we are not going to Carmel, thought we would stay here and visit , laugh and make these. I said what I don't want to wear that, and her sweet reply was, "sometimes a person just has to laugh at one self". Tears started down my face and only I could say was get the bulbs and bells. Patty inspired me to always remember how life has it's ups and downs and all we can do to cope sometimes is to laugh at oneself.

My Dad is my inspiration! Growing up I never had to wonder if my Dad loved me or not, he told me frequently. Mostly though, I felt loved as he spend hours of his week helping me improve in whatever sport I was currently playing and then showed up to support me when I played, even when I attended college 2 hours from home. Mostly though, my Dad has become even more of an inspiration with his love for my Mom! When Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers at the age of 55 I thanked Dad for his commitment to take care of Mom. With tears in his eyes he told me it was the least he could do after she has taken care of all of us for 35 years. 10 years later, Mom is still hanging on. Dad feeds her, clothes her, bathes her and pushes her in a wheelchair on long walks. Dad never complains. He's basically put his life on hold to love on Mom! He's my inspiration!!

Overcoming the life I had as a little girl, and the dysfunction of a very alcoholic back ground. Getting through rough times has made me who I am today. I have been able to realize my dreams and still am at the age of 50. In my darkest hour, I heard someone say this.. "you don't have to live like that anymore" I did not know that I had a choice at the time. Today I am a registered nurse who works with the mentally ill and I pass this very thought on to those in trouble, because they too don't know they have a choice to treat a bad situation as a cross road to make a change for the better. Every day I ask God to give me strength to be useful in this way, and I am still grateful for the seed that was planted of making a choice to live a better life and wanting and achieving a more centered me.

I didn't realize until much later in my lfie how important a career and a job is to me. Thank you mom for this valuable lesson.

I was at a book store a few months back and I stumbled upon a book titled 'Wildy Sophisticated: A Bold New Attitude for Career Success". While I must say this book has transformed my little life, it would be in all fairness to credit Nicole Williams for inspiring me to live a more controlled, confident life...Professionally and Personally!

I am a young (24), single mother of two children (7&3) and although I have an alright career in Print Advertising, I was sure I was going to settle in my not-so fulfilling job because I was 'lucky to get that far' given my lifestlye. After reading my new life bible.I realized I can do more than what I am at the paper, and I have an interview tomorrow for an Online Marketing... and I won't stop climbing the ladder there!

My hero is my friend Barbara. She recently lost her husband to Lou Gherig's Disease. He was a prominent member of the small artist community they live in, and to celebrate his life and heal her own grief she has been working on a DVD memorial of his work,(art using multiple mediums), his hobbies, (boat building),and his daily routines (walking the dog along the bay) to send to family and friends all over the world. While she has struggled with something so intensely personal, she has worked through her feelings and completed the project this weekend, in time for the anniversary of his passing. Barbara is my hero because she, as a young widow, looked her sorrow in the face and rose above it to create something amazingly beautiful to remember his life by, which their family and friends will cherish always.

My mom. Being a woman in the military isn't always a walk in the park, but she spent over 20 years in the Army, and I never once heard or knew of her using the fact that she's a woman as an excuse to not do her job or to let somebody hold her back. I can't count the number of times I've heard stories of her telling people to go kick rocks when they try to lord over her. I absorbed a lot of that and brought it with me when I joined the Army 5 years ago, and I still use it to this day as I continue my service.

My son Dorian is definately the one that has inspired every aspect of my life. I became pregnant with him four years ago and I was completely clueless. I didn't even think that I would make a good mom. Now I look back on the past and I realize why my son was sent to me. He helped me to overcome the abusive relationship that I was in with his father and gave me the strength to leave. Today my life is fantastic. My son is the happiest, most loving, amazing person that I know. Without him I am not sure where I would be. I do know that he pushes me everyday to follow my dreams, so that I can give him the best life possible. There is nothing in the world like being a mother to him. I love him unconditionally. He looks at me and tells me "I love you mommy" and those four words alone push me through the day. My love and compassion for him makes me go above and beyond EVERYDAY to make our lives fabulous. He is my love, my life, my passion, and my inspiration. :)

Today I gathered up all the tiny scraps and speckles of paper in all of the nooks and crannies of my life on which I had written down chapters of various books and stories I have running in my mind, projects I want to start, herbal remedies I can grow in my backyard, the list of great wines I need to try, the many lyrics, ballads, and ideas for such and all the papers here, there, in the bottom of my purse, in the seats and coffee cup holder of the car, in my desk drawer, my underwear drawer, the weird shelf in my computer desk... I gathered all of these and rewrote most of them down on nice big sheets of paper, put everything into an expandable file holder, categorized and labeled and was truly inspired by myself. It sits next to my desk, buzzing with yearning, like it's alive or something. Now what.

Even though I'm supposed to coach others about their careers, the truth is I learn more from the women I meet with than they will ever know! I'm inspired by all the women who choose not to settle for anything less than a life and career that they deserve.
Frieda Kahlo has inspired me for years. First she had the strength to overcome many physical and emotional obsticals, she was inventive, creative, confident and balanced. By balanced I mean that she was able to to be both masculine and feminine, traditional wife and independant woman, team player and free thinker.... Also, she led a very full personal, artistic, political, social and romantic life. She's amazingly inspirational because in many ways she seems to have had it all!
My grandmother inspires me everyday. She has really devoted her life to caring for others: first my great-uncle (died of cancer), then my great-grandmother (died of old age), then my grandfather (died of brain cancer), then my aunt who was in a tragic accident (she still cares for her). My grandmother inspired me by the example she set. She lived by the words "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Every day I try to remember those words and when I'm tempted to lash out at someone who is being less than kind, I try to think of how my grandmother would have handled herself in the same situation. Hurtful words are such a powerful weapon. Once uttered they can never be retrieved and are seldom forgotten. On the other hand, showing grace in the face of meanness can have such a positive effect on those around you.

First, I should explain how inspiration makes me feel. At any given moment, especially when I am feeling introspective, when I think of those that have inspired me, a warm rush of love and appreciation fills my soul.

I draw inspiration from many in my life and to pick mention just one is very difficult. In 1997, I lost two very important people in my life. I hadn't spent much time with them because of living in different states. But spiritually, I felt very connected to them. My grandfather passed after several years of declining health and my aunt who was still very active passed on after having a stroke. There presence always made me feel at ease and was comforting, especially during the most difficult times of my life.

My grandparents inspire me. My grandfather was from Spain. He was involved in the Spanish Civil War, on the side that fought against Franco. He was taken captive and was in jail for three years. He was separated from the love of his life, my grandmother, who had to say she was his cousin to go and see him. She waited those agonizing three years thinking he would be executed at any minute. We have their letters to each other, and they are incredible. He miraculously got out of jail alive, they got married, had three boys and moved down to Uruguay to start a new life. When my grandmother passed away my grandfather could not stand being alone, and less than a year later he also passed away.

Their love story is inspiring to me. Not every marriage will through those same trials, but they inspire me to keep my marriage strong even in the hardest of times: that is what makes a marriage last, and that is what they've taught me through their example! They inspire me to be a better wife!

My children inspire me! I never knew my potential, or that there was no limit to it, until I had my three boys. Their little lives have shown me that obstacles are there for a reason and they are never insurmountable if you set your sights on something. Perserverence, desire and goals guide them every day in almost everything they do. Mostly because they were born with both gifts and challenges. How can you ignore a desire to succeed just because there are obstacles between here and there! You don't. You go for it...every day! My boys have taught me the sky's the limit...and beyond. I am so in awe of their determination as they face what life has given them and just plow ahead! At first I thought it was boys with blinders. Not so! It's strength and inspiration and they have passed that on to me! I am forever thankful! There is nothing I can't do with my children as my guide and my cheerleaders!

My 5th grade teacher inspired me. She was sweet, thoughtful, dedicated and encouraging. She took the time to help a young girl learn how to comfortably write left-handed, when everyone else was trying to make me write with my wrist hooked around, so I wouldn't smear my ink. She told me it didn't matter if it smeared a little. I shouldn't be uncomfortable when I was writing. She encouraged me to read as much as I could...for enjoyment and for learning. She cared about her students like no other teacher had shown me before. And I wanted to be just like her. In fact, I wanted to be HER! But since I couldn't be Miss Bloomquist, I decided to be the next best thing...a teacher. I thought about being a teacher for seven more years. When I went to college, I majored in education and thought about her and the other amazing teachers who had continued to inspire me along the way. Mr. Sommerfield, Ms. Rhodes, Ms. Pulem, Mr. Lockhart, Mrs. Berentz. And I thank them for the inspiration!

My daughter, Mandy inspires me. She really knows how to love and accept people. She see differences in people, but is unafraid and not intimidated by them. Her teachers who are of a different racial background, she describes as having "_____ skin."

She has a friend whose younger brother is in a wheelchair. She looked at the chair, touched it, and said she liked the blue sparkles, then treated him just like everyone else. I wish I were as unaffected by differences as she is. That same boy was on the floor one day after preschool (he's 2) and using his arms to scoot - other kids were staring in unflattering ways, but Mandy just said, "That looks like fun! Let me try," then proceeded to lay on the floor & move like an otter. Luckily, the mother beamed at the 2 kids laughing on the floor.

Since Mandy (age 4, BTW) has taught me this approach, I've gotten better about asking questions of people in a gentle way. I've learned that many are most comfortable talking about things.

My beloved mother-in-law who may she rest in peace. She raised my husband as a single mom when she immigrated from Cuba in the early 1960's and didn't even know the language. My beautiful mother inspired me. My mother was strong, outgoing, assertive, intelligent, creative, and very talented. She helped fight for women's rights, was a tech writer writing programs used on the space missions in the 60's, and was a pioneer for internet chat many moons ago while working at CompuServe. She raised me mostly on her own, and was the "other parent" to my two sons. I lost my mother 9 years ago to a courageous fight against lung cancer. She remains a big influence on me...for me, it's WWMD? (what would mom do?) whenever I'm overwhelmed, stressed, or confused.

My 7th grade science teacher inspired in me a love for science and a thirst for information. He probably doesn't even realize that his teaching gave inspiration to my lifelong career and pursuit of learning.
My Kids... they have taught me so much about myself. They are so innocent and loving. They really have shown me what type of person I really want to be.
Mother (87, alive and well and playing golf & bowling...), who was a WWII soldier (WAC) photographer in the India-China-Burma theatre of operations, and raised me working as a professional fashion illustrator, inspired me to be both a professional artist (& Official Artist for US Coast Guard) and a soldier (Israel Defense Forces, Sgt. 1984-86) by proving that both were possible! It was VERY cool as a kid/teen in the 1960s & 70s to have both a dad AND a mom who'd been soldiers- no one else I knew did!
My parents....my mother on one hand for always being there and pushing me to do things. I give her credit for me turning out to be a wonderful Army Wife. Growing up I saw her being everything to my father while he was in the Army and even though I didn't understand a lot then, I do now. My father showed me that I can do anything that I set my mind to. He was the person I looked up to when he said women can do anything.....and I did. I became a mechanic because of my father, he was a Army mechanic before he retired. From there, I went into the Fire Department as a Volunteer for a few years and loved it. I have had a few other jobs that are rare to see women in at the time I did them.....and each one was awesome!!! Thanks mom & dad for everything you have given me and shown me over the years!! HOOAH!!

PRINCE has inspired me to go beyond what is before me. His music tells me all is possible when I believe in myself and my GOD. That both go hand in hand for as much you can beleive in what you can do you have to acknowledge that GOD is there as well. His music is so beautiful and it lifts me everyday that I listen to it, I know I have done a lot to change my life because of PRINCE. I see his tenacity to stay true to himself and his music which tells me as long as I do the same all is good. I know that when I started to do that it felt like a cloud was lifted and all was possible and I know all IS possible. Music is a healer for all when a person is down or makes a person more joyful when they hear their favorite song. When I see PRINCE play I see him at his happiest and I know that is possible for me when I do what I love like he is doing what he loves. I like to help people and I do every chance I get and PRINCE makes beautiful Music to help and heal those who chose to listen..

What has inspired me? One word, my late husband and his never ending love and caring. After being a career military wife, I was shocked when he died, Suddenly, not on duty in some far awy place. Not in harms way. Just here then gone. Tonight I feel very sad. Remember all the times he was in harms way. And missing him right now. I just want to go lay on his grave site, but I can't. He is buried somewhere in the Persian Gulf. I miss him tonight. And the tears won't stop. This is a dark night of the soul for me. I miss you Babe and if only I had one more time with you. But then I would want more. So rest well my love. Some day I will see you again. I want it to be today, but that is not God's plan. Honey, does the pain ever go away?

What has inspired me? I guess it would be the oncologist who told me recently I may have bone cancer. For the past ten years or so I have suffered horribly with arthritis. Then I was hit with a nerve disease the doctors have yet to figure out. I went to bed one night just fine, woke up the next morning and couldn't walk. Months and months of additional pain, with test after fruitless test. The news knocked the wind out of my husband and kids but oddly it put the wind in my sails. If I have only x amount of time left, I decided I was going to use it to the ultimate. I have never, not once cried or gotten depressed over the news. I have been even nicer to people. I go out of my way to do nice things. I have taken over a crew of feral cats I'm mothering, even though they still don't understand what I'm doing for them. I laugh a lot, smell my flowers, enjoy the sun and rain, walk as much as I can through the pain. Every day is a good day!! (Cleo)

I was 1 of the first people she met when she moved to LA - She was so happy and extroverted and determined to make it as an actress! She has been in many local theatre plays but never on TV. This year she shot her first national commerical - I was so proud of her! She never gave up on her dream and I am happy for her and grateful to have such a wonderful friend in my life!

I would have to say that my own mother inspired me simply by the way that she lived her life. She had a true pioneer spirit, she was born in 1912, and she was a hard working woman, wife and mother. She would have willingly given her life for any one of her children and watched over her little flock like a shepherd watches over his sheep. She was protective, not given to hysteria and practical. She managed the household funds in a way to make ends meet, but she always found a nickel a day for a cold coca cola at elementary school
recess for both me and my older sister. That was back in the early fifties. She learned how to manage our household funds because she, my dad and 3 older siblings lived thru the great depression. Yet, she always was able to give to less fortunate men even back then. She told me of the hobos who would get off trains looking for work and how she made them a sandwich and a drink of cold water, when they came to her door.
I loved my mother very much.

I was inspired by Mrs Geneva Sims, I only met her a few years ago and she was in her eighties at the time and well dressed and well spoken and I just took to her and was inspired by her spirit and the flair that she had. I was also inspired by a middle aged woman that I saw on a bus years ago. She was older but neat and well groomed and had a very good body and I felt that I would really like to look like her even at the my age then was around twenty one. My math teacher also inspired me to do my best in life.
My paternal grandfather. He lived five years after diagnosis with a rare form of brain cancer. My grandfather lived through three highly invasive surgeries and frequent cobalt radiation treatments during the 1980's. After each surgery, he lost physical abilities. Ultimately, he was confined to a hospital bed at home with only the ability to move his arms, hands and fingers. After he lost his ability to speak, he helped me learn to read on an advanced level via written messages on a hand-held blackboard. He is the first inspiration in my life for pursuing a career in medicine and research.

my mother has inspired me to be who I am and not be shy of my emotions. Daily she battles with caring for an ailing husband and she has done this my entire life. Growing up I never appreciated the many roles in our house hold she took on. Every achievement of her children and every mistake she felt along with us. I used to see her tears as weakness. But now I am a mother of my own and I apprectiate her genuine unconditional love and I strive to be just like her
My boyfriend is a professional photographer and a professional clown - completely unrelated. For the last 15 years he has made about 400 hospitals visits a year entertaining sick children. With him he brings his energy, his hilarious persona, and a cloud of happiness. He is there to bring light to a very dark place. He captures ailing children - and heartbroken parents - with his clown antics and carries them all away, like a super hero in a cape, to a pain-free, happy magical world. His medicine is extremely potent.

My boyfriend is also a brilliant artist who views the world as his canvas; life as his inspiration, and dreams as the magic stardust that make air worth breathing. He has worked hard to create THE LIFE he has always wanted. A life with dreams worth pursuing. A life of integrity, creativity, happiness and love.

He has shown me that it is possible to create our dream life. It is ours for the making.

He also gave me the confidence to teach music which has led to a career and passion as a full time artist and musician. For this I am forever grateful for his inspiration.

Mother Theresa has been an inspiration to me. She kept on giving and giving of her life until death. She was selfless, conforting and helpful to children and made a mark in this world for good. She cared only for others putting her tiredness aside and when it was time to retire she was tired but kept on going until she died on the job because she was needed and they asked her to.
The Holy Bible talks of going the "extra mile" and she surely did and about caring for your "brother" and she surely did and carried allot of them literally on her back. She had a heavy load in life but did it miracuously and without complaint. She always had a beautiful smile and a kind word to say in all reports given. Mother Theresa was and is my inspiration in life.

Yet, she is still a "down home" type of person, a great philanthropist ,and she has never forgotten her roots. I was shocked at how many kids showed up. I went to his best friend and told him I felt like i did not even know my son I always thought he was so shy. He told me of course I knew him and he was but the thing with Robert was that when people would talk to him he would listen. I owe it all to “Millie the Model,” and Sylvester Stallone. “Millie” led me to modeling, which led me to acting, and Sly led me from acting to writing.

I had always wanted to be a model, having been a huge fan of “Millie the Model” comics as a child and, after a few years side-tracked in various other jobs, I actually did become a model. Then a friend told me about a commercial acting workshop she was taking. I signed up. That led to my interest in becoming a serious actress and, despite my extreme discomfort in actually standing up in front of anyone and performing, I moved to Hollywood to pursue this career.

This was about the time that Sylvester Stallone achieved his “overnight” success as writer and star of the first “Rocky." I figured if he could write, how hard could it be and started writing my own scripts. Turns out it was harder than I thought. I did go on to become quite a successful TV writer, but it all started with Millie. She was quite a gal.
