Seven Steps for Wedded Bliss

Being Best FriendsThis is not just the first step for Wedded Bliss, but the foremost important of all. To like your spouse as much (or more) than you love them. Every day we wake up and make a choice to love, people fall out of love, but friendship doesn’t fade. When you are best friends with your spouse you enjoy hanging out together at home reading the paper, having popcorn while watching a movie from Netflix-now that’s multi-tasking. Run errands together and go out to breakfast or lunch, even if it’s just the dollar menu at McDonald’s-you’re together. It’s the company, not the food that counts permits you to do so. It could be as simple as an impromptu trip to an ice cream parlor and share a banana split or get take-out from a Restaurant that offers the two for $20 deals. No tipping needed with take-out plus you can dress as comfortably as you want, hmm!.

You may still have disagreements, but if you follow the other five steps they won’t turn into arguments.

My husband and I are happily married; three years and counting. We practice these seven steps and we never go more than five minutes before resolving any issue. Only one of you can be crazy at one time (e.g. hormones or lack thereof for women, and lost TV remote or beer withdraw for men).

Chivalry isn’t dead, husbands just get complacent because they have already captured your heart. But the fire has to be stoked once in awhile to keep it from going out. Chivalry can be revived-start by opening doors or standing up you’re your wife walks in the room if you are able. Never take the blessing of your spouse and their love for you for granted. It can be gone in a blink of an eye. My husband and I don’t leave the house without saying “I love you”, particularly if we don’t go somewhere together. The same with talking on the phone. You don’t want the feelings of guilt you would have if something happened and you parted angrily. Don’t leave the house or go to bed angry-EVER!
