The male ego is easy pickings. When he messages, and he will, leave it a day before replying with confident, yet faint interest. Suggest he calls you some time, but not today, as you are tired from all your socializing of late. Note: be sure to use a word like socializing. In the male mind this translates to “flirting, and possibly more, with the competition.”
Step Number Four – Reel The Sucker In. His imagination will be running wild by now. When he calls, be friendly but not over-enthusiastic. If he asks to meet you within the next 3 days, stick him on a plate, Glad Wrap him, and plonk him behind your box of choccy’s and half finished bottle of bubbly. If he suggests next week, pull him off the hook, tell him to kiss your proverbial goodbye, and throw him back in the sea.
Now you may be wondering why I’m telling you all this. Do I think it’s time one of us was finally honest with women? Am I saddened by the pain women experience as a result of my thoughtless gender? Have I had enough of consoling broken-hearted female friends on a Friday night – when my plan was to go out for a few drinks, laughs, and be introduced to their gorgeous, promiscuous girlfriends? Did I hope that revealing sacred male secrets on a woman’s website would provide a new angle for picking up at parties? Yes, to all of the above. Hey, don’t give me that look…I’m just a guy!
Now you know our game, it’s time to unleash hell.

I also think that a lot of this texting is because they are not supposed to be talking to anyone else. They are either married or in a relationship. It's funny that they dissapear during prime time and are very active during the day. Then an occasional text right before bedtime. I have actually text back and said I will not pursue a relationship via text. Only to have the guy text right back. My motto is "Talk or Walk."
This is working like a charm! I found your article the other day when I was feeling frustrated about this guy texting instead of calling. I followed your advice. Here are the results so far. Left man to marinate for 3 days. Texted back this morning that I've been busy and we'll catch up soon, hope all is well. Didn't expect a text back for awhile. Less than a minute later he texted. I haven't responded and will wait until tomorrow. Now I'm not sure what to say in the text tomorrow as his response today was "K".
Again (i.e. more proof) my mother was right. Too bad she isn't still here to know her valuable knowledge and insight rings true well into the age of Technolocy. GO MOM! Thought I practice Steps One and Two on a regular basis, it seems when I have to, I loose interest quite easily and rarely even play my part of Step 3. Quite possibly my loss. Maybe I should re-evaluate and stop being so critical...give 'em a break one in a while 'eh. Thank you.
I've read your article again, as now I'm totally immersed in texting as part of dating. I admit I love it because I find that I get nervous on the phone. In person, I'm fine. You're such a great writer, but you know that already, you guy you.
I must admit I've herard advise similar to this before, the hard to get game seems to work like a charm. I love your writting style. You kept me laughing and giggling through out your entries. I'm really looking forward to reading more from you. =] If its alright to say so, your female friends are lucky to have you. It would be so cool to have a male friend that can be sensitive and playful with a little adventurous all in one package ;)
