A Very Unique Young Lady

Sometimes a person enters your life, and before you know it, EVERYTHING is different! She colors your world in a completely different shade, and things that had been stuck in the same groove for a kazillion years suddenly explode into a completely unique meaning! Yes, folks, we’re talking about a grandchild, in this case, specifically, a granddaughter who burst upon the scene in January of 2001. I thought I had everything organized, I thought I was ready, but NO-O-O! I was wrong!

Mia drastically changed everything on that cold winter day, and she hasn’t stopped since! Although fifty years separate us in age, we have learned to explore a tantalizing range of interests on our special days together. Today, in honor of Spring Break, we ate crab cocktail for lunch, rode several terrifyingly rickety rides at a neighborhood carnival (until this fifty-nine-year-old was feeling awfully rickety herself!), then capped off the day by taking a fake gondola ride in the middle of a huge hotel casino. Well … we think that eventually, that young, vacationing couple who were hoping for a romantic boat ride will eventually forgive us for our giggling and rocking the boat! Ah, young love! Treating ourselves with Godiva chocolates afterward made for a perfect, fun-filled, and yes, exhausting day! I know it is a day that I will remember for a long time, and I hope that she will, too.

That sounds like a very nice day with a couple of kids. You're certainly a kid at heart anyway, NANA... you sound more like a teenager. Well spoken piece, nice job. Tyler
