Plan “B”

You knew your place in this big world,
Someone’s mother, someone’s girl;
Today they’re gone but life’s not through,
Prepare Plan “B” for your “Part Two.”

You cooked the supper and baked the bread,
Made sure the family was well-fed,
The life you knew, it now has changed,
Cleave to the good;  it’s got your name.

The years have gone, it seems to pot,
How easy you could close up shop,
Seek solace in your garden, locked,
And you will find what can’t be bought..

Life has its share of twists and turns,
It makes the best of soldiers churn
So if your cloth be cut and torn
It’s time to cut a stronger one.

So find your passion and carve your niche,
A brand new gig with a different stitch,
It’s up to you what life will be,
Hold your breath and count to three.

Move on and tell the old “Goodbye!”
Release that birdie in the sky,
Recycle, reuse and renew,
Put the best of One in Chapter Two!

This poem makes me cry every time I read it. I ought to know, I lived it for fifteen years. I'm preachin' to the choir on this one!
It feels good to write.
