What Goes Around Comes Around! Part 1

Kallie declined my request to reconcile and I simply could not believe what I was hearing! After all, my best friend had always been there for me through thick and thin in the past. She had always looked out for what was in my best interest and now when I needed her most, she was gone from my life.

Kallie and I had been friends since we were just fourteen years old. We developed a close bond like friends often do when they laugh and cry and share many intimate secrets together. We even dated brothers at one time and dreamed marrying them and becoming sisters-in-law. Now, after almost twenty years of friendship—just like that, it was no more.

Although I was quite shocked by her declination, our mutual friend Jocelyn conveyed to me the reasoning behind Kallie’s decision. It had to do with our parting of ways almost one year prior. As much as I hate to admit this even now, true to her character, her decision not to reconcile was not a vindictive one nor was it based upon feelings of retaliation. She simply had to do what was best for her this time and, for once, not what was best for me. For her own sense of well-being, Kallie severed the ties of our friendship bond.

It was approximately one year ago today when Jocelyn told me that Kallie and her newly-wed husband Palmer would be getting together with Isaac at a local restaurant to catch up and to share a few laughs. You see, Isaac and Kallie had been close friends all throughout their high school years and he would soon be back in town for a short visit. I must admit that I was infuriated! After all, just how could they not think to include me in their little gathering? I, therefore, did one of the things that I do best—I invited myself. Kallie, Palmer and Isaac were most gracious, however, and they welcomed me to join their small reunion with open arms. In fact, they even took their welcome one step further. They moved the venue to a restaurant close to my home to make things much more convenient for me.
